G’day Ben. Yep – just head to the end of Black Duck Creek Road, and up along the bush track for a couple of hundred metres.

There might be a locked gate across the road about 5km from the end of the road, because Qld National Parks bought the last two blocks of land. So you might need to take some push bikes with you to make it easier to cover the last few km.

The old slab hut with the chimney is ‘Cooks Hut’. My Grandmother from Placid Hills took me as a youngster in the 1980’s to see the hut that my great grandfather was born at in 1908 – one of eight children. Now with kids of my own, I’m wanting to take my two to visit the hut. My memory isn’t great as I was just a lad, but if I head along black duck creek road, I’ll eventually stumble across it? Thanks so much! Ben Cook.

Me and my dad went out there for a ride a couple of weeks back and got to see the place again. bushy and Trevor have since moved out in 2014 and is now national park which is a shame because you really cant enjoy it as much, We still keep in touch and see Trevor now and then. its hard to believe 2014 was10 years ago, it felt like yesterday. Black duck creek is a one of a kind place and a beautiful part of the world.
Thanks Neil for the Great blog!!
