I’m also doing a presentation on Murphys Creek re family and local history at the triennial congress next year in Canberra. My history of the Kunkels and their life at the Fifteen Mile is published in my book “Grassroots Queenslanders: The Kunkel Family” which is at least in the Toowoomba & Darling Downs Family History Society near Drayton Cemetery. Still haven’t turned up anything on the Chinese market gardeners but you’ve surely got me curious. Pauleen

My interest is in Murphy’s Creek not bike riding but my ancestors were early settlers at the Ffifteen Mile so I found it very interesting. I’ve never heard about the,mass grave for Chinese market gardeners though I believe there’s an unidentified cemetery from the time when the railway was built.
