G’day Linda
It’s nice to hear from you after such a long time.
In answer to your question I currently use a Garmin 810. I’ve got all the ANT gear for it, and it does what I need, although the Garmin battery is starting to lose its longevity (I can usually manage 6 or 7 hours out of it these days).
I hope you don’t mind me answering your other question with a question, but has the software on the Magellan 610 been updated? I.e. is it possible to load an updated operating system on it?
If so, would you like me to update it and re-do a review?
I did have one minor issue recently: I accidentally broke the locking mechanism which secures the backplate to the GPS. There is a small pin which turn into a recess in the back of the GPS, and holds the plate in. The pin had fallen out leaving a hole in the locking mechanism. I was able to replace the pin with a similar shaped piece of metal I had laying around the house. So the good news is we got the back plate back on, and were able to attach the GPS back on to the bike.
Best wishes
Neil

It is now some 3 and a half years since you reviewed this unit and I was wondering what GPS unit you currently use and whether you had any further comments on the 610 i.e. if it had been updated and how you viewed its current usability?
I look forward to reading the rest of your musings now I have stumbled across your site.
regards

Linda
