Hahahaha – they were a bit long in the tooth, but at least they were friendly.

PS You could also start from Bribie Island Road.

G’day Keith

Do you have a GPS so you can follow the route? This will help to make sure you don’t get lost in the forest because there are heaps of routes in there.

Here’s a link to a map showing our route, with a couple of suggested alterations marked in green:

You’d start from where I’ve put the green bicycle on the map. It’s not much use starting from Beachmere unless you can get through Wallace Road. That road is split halfway along by a creek which is passable after a few weeks of dry weather, but after rain its waist deep with mud 🙂

Basically, the green paths on my map help you avoid going through (1) the horrible bog near the chicken farm in the middle of the course and (2) The nudist resort which is private property and involves riding through some thick grass.

Wildhorse Mountain is at the northern end of the route. You can drive pretty close in a 2wd via Wildhorse Road, Coochin Creek. Here’s a link to Google Street View of that location which is about 1km north of Wildhorse Mountain:

Wildhorse Mountain is a good location to arrive at MID ride as the petrol station has lots of cafe’s for you to fill up at. That makes more sense than actually starting from there, as there’s no other shops in that part of the world.

If you’d like GPX files or more route alternatives, please let me know.

Neil

Is it possible to guide me to where I can see the route on a map..? have tried to nut it out on Whereis, but does not know where Wildhorse Mt is…
