Day 1 – Lawnton to Maleny

by NeilEnnis 20 April 2014 Shortlink

McCarthys Shute Road
I love the idea of setting forth from my front door on a multi-day trip. How far will I get? Where will I end up? Who will I meet? What will I see?

While it’s not in the same league as those epic adventures that last for weeks at a time, I thought a micro-adventure would be a fun way to test myself out, and to explore the amazing country near my home.

Mount Barney

Mount Barney
“What lottery did I win to be able to see places like this every week?” I muttered to myself as rolled down a quiet road with the huge peaks of Mount Barney soaring above me.

Mount Hennessy

by NeilEnnis 6 April 2014 Shortlink

King Of The Hill

After making it half-way up the mountain last week, we felt compelled to come back to the end of the Black Duck Creek valley and complete a loop up to the top of the range and back down via Mount Hennessy. As usual, it was steeper, rougher and more spectacular than we had anticipated.

Eastern Branch Road
If you follow the Brisbane River upstream as far as you can go, it eventually splits in two branches. Our adventure today took us in a big loop through through the most upper reaches of the Brisbane River, along its Eastern and Western Branches.

Gus Beutel Lookout

Gus Beutel Lookout
I took the family to Gus Beutel Lookout on the weekend.

It’s a breathtaking spot on the edge of the Great Dividing Range between Hampton and Esk. On our way home from Toowoomba, we decided to take the scenic route rather than battle all the roadworks on the Warrego Highway.

Great Sandy National Park

Great Sandy National Park is spectacular wilderness area north of Noosa, covering over 2,000 square kilometres. Today’s adventure took us from Elanda Point in the south, through the rainforests near Kin Kin Creek then northwards into the Cooloola section of the Park.

Harrys Hut Adventure

by NeilEnnis 9 March 2014 Shortlink

Jumping into the Noosa River
This weeks adventure was a group ride to Harrys Hut with about twenty friends.

Eric and I scoped out the route last week, making it easier for us to relax today, and enjoy this amazing ride
