Almost 200 years ago, a convict named John Baker escaped the brutal Moreton Bay penal colony to live with the Goomburra Aboriginal People in the Lockyer Valley. He walked long distances with them following winding tracks up and down the Great Dividing Range. Today we followed some of those tracks.

Tannymorel is a delightful little village with a perfect location for adventure on the edge of rugged mountains and vast plains. By camping there overnight we were able to have the best of both worlds.
Kilkivan
The Bicentennial National Trail (BNT) passes right through the middle of Kilkivan, west of Gympie. This delightful small town was the perfect place for us to start today’s adventure.
