The purpose of todays ride was to explore some trails around the upper reaches Noosa River in the hope of finding an enjoyable route for a group ride next week.
A bunch of us are planning to ride from Kin Kin in the Noosa hinterland to Harrys Hut – a camping area on the banks of the beautiful Noosa River.
So Eric and I decided we should look around to find the best tracks… and have some fun at the same time!

The serene Maroochy River meanders through sugar cane fields and mangroves as it wends its way from Yandina to Maroochyore on the coast.
Today’s adventure took us from Parklands State Forest, near Nambour, to several interesting spots along the Maroochy River, and then finishing back in Parklands.
I also wanted to have a look at different ways of getting from the river to Parklands as part of a future social ride where we may have to paddle across using Eric’s inflatable dinghy.
Clare and Kat from the Bushrangers Mountain Bike Club kindly offered to show Darb, Jason, Paul and me around the twisty trails at Parklands where it’s easy to get lost if you don’t know where you’re going.

My friend, Murray, kindly let me borrow his fat bike for a few days while we stayed at Coolum Beach.
I had a wonderful time exploring the beach as far as I could go in either direction.

When you’re riding a mountain bike, and the trail you’re following stops at the shore of a lake, there’s really only one alternative if you want to keep going…
We had the day off on Monday (it was a public holiday) so my friend Neil Bang decided to organize a group ride with some friends from MTBDirt.com.
Our route would take us from familiar single tracks at Bunyaville out to some steep and challinging fire trails at Clear Mountain.
It was going to be hard work.
