The Bicentennial National Trail (BNT) passes right through the middle of Kilkivan, west of Gympie. This delightful small town was the perfect place for us to start today’s adventure.

Belhaven
“Belhaven” is a 150 hectare cattle property that sits atop the Little Liverpool Range at Tallegalla west of Ipswich. When the landowners generously allowed us to explore their property, we jumped at the opportunity.
Coochin Creek
Coochin Creek has always been a forest. The plains that stretch eastwards from the Glasshouse Mountains to the Bribie Passage were once covered with vast tracts of She-Oaks, Paperbarks and Gum Trees. Today it’s still a forest, but most of the trees have been replaced with plantation pines.

Carneys Creek
In 1859, hopeful gold miners once trekked through this area on their way to the diggings at Tooloom on the Clarence River. Today we thought we’d retrace some of their journey.
